There aren't that many paved roads in Mongolia, once you take a turn off a main road you are immediately driving in dirt.

We knew that driving in Mongolia is a bit wild and dangerous so we wanted to drop the car off quickly. We decided to take one side trip beforehand to visit the Amarbayasgalant Monastery. Last comment 08/12/20. Viewed: 1196 times.

Unfortunately, once we turned off the main road, we had 2 rivers and a swamp to cross, and daylight was fleeting. The Micra was a champ!

It was a bit hairy getting to the monastery but once we were there we were very glad that we did.
