Visiting some amazing ruins in northern Haiti

The palace was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1842 and was never rebuilt.

Next up was the Citadelle where Henri had his defensive cannons. My guide was grumpy because I wouldn't rent a horse for the two of us. The walk up was incredibly steep and maybe 1.5 miles long. Last comment 04/19/22.

The Citadelle was never in a battle, so all of the original ordinance was still onsite.

The smaller shells were for the long range cannons like this one. The wood is original from 200 years ago. Last comment 11/23/20.

We had a flat tire coming up. While I was touring these guys had driven to the town to get the tire repaired. They weren't back by the time that I finished, but 20 minutes later they were back in action and all smiles. Last comment 04/19/22.
