The Mongol Rally has a start in London and then two days later in the Czech Republic. Here we met up with 2 Convicts in a Box who were dressed to impress!

The second sendoff was at Klenova castle. After the sendoff there was a huge party with a dozen bands. Ed and I left the festivities early, we had an early morning planned.

There was no space left to put up on our tent except on a steep hillside, so we kept sliding down to the bottom of the tent all night. After a few hours of restless sleep, it was time to hit the road. Today we planned to make the hike all the way back up north to Gdansk, Poland.

I had printed out google maps directions for the first few days of the trip, they had not been working out in Europe as well as they usually do in the states. Here they had taken us off the highway in order to cross this back alley, only to then direct us back to the same interstate. Of course before then we lost our way and drove around in the mountains between Czech Republic, Poland, and Germany for a few hours.

The road system Poland aren't quite as developed as they are in Germany, so unfortunately we were not able to make it to Gdansk that night. We did get to see this cathedral in Gniezno beautifully lit up.

We pushed on the road for as long as we could, eventually we were just exhausted so we put up some towels over the windows and crashed out.

We still didn't know where they were so our first order of business was to get to a cafe where we could use their wifi.

They were just across the river in the beautiful old Hotel Gdansk. Amy had to present that night at her conference so John and Kayla took Ed and I to a delicious meal. I'm so glad we could make that happen, so fun to see you guys in Poland!
