The Conical Tower, inside the Great Enclosure, is the image found on the Zimbabwe Dollar. It is solid all of the way through any thought to have phallic significance.

We were staying in a very cute rondavel inside the Great Zimbabwe grounds. Since we were the only two tourists around and there were no restaurants, we asked the lady who booked us our room if she knew how we could have dinner. She offered to prepare it for us and have it delivered for the equivalent of $5 US.

It was one of the best meals that we had on the trip! She had ground up corn meal to make a delicious rice-like starchy dish that we poured stewed pumpkin leaves and some meat over. It was amazing, my mouth is watering just thinking of it. :-)

From Great Zimbabwe we hitchhiked back to the closest town, Masvingo, and then rode a bus to Bulawayo where we caught an overnight sleeper train to Victoria Falls.

Luckily we were on the only car on the train which had no power. It was a bit creepy, but I was so excited about getting to Victoria Falls that it didn't bother me.

We made it!! :-) I had always wanted to come here since I had found out about its existence. Coming here was one of the big drivers for making this 6 week trip.

The guidebooks told us that it would be like a constant shower once we got near to the falls. They recommended renting rain jackets at the entrance for $1.00 each.

Never ones to listen to reason, we went ahead without and got absolutely completely drenched to the bone. :-)

This is the view of the Zambezi river from the Victoria Falls Bridge. You can just see the beautiful Victoria Falls Hotel on the far cliffs above the river.
