We woke up this morning with one goal: see Baalbek. There's only one problem: Baalbek is two hours from Beirut and we are have a plane to catch back to Qatar this afternoon. Oh and our map is in Arabic. We don't read Arabic.. Last comment 08/13/20.

As you can see we made it! Sara navigated us brilliantly. We busted into town and made a beeline to the booth to hire a guide.

Here he is.. He was a kind grandfatherly type with interesting stories to tell. That is, until I started to wander off and I got chastised for it. "Hey you! Come back here! This is interesting!!" Last comment 11/23/20.

This is Lebanon's number one tourist attraction and the Middle East's most impressive Roman site. The temples here are larger than any that were constructed in Rome. Last comment 02/12/12.

It was a very impressive if hurried tour. Now we had to make it back to Beirut, return our car, and catch a taxi to the airport. They say that Beiruti drivers are some of the most aggressive in the world. I do believe that on our way back, /they/ were afraid of /me/. Last comment 04/19/22.

But then we got hungry.. So we stopped at McDonalds. But then back to the races! The famous quote from this trip was when Sara was looking at the map and trying to navigate us. She told me to go straight. As the Y was approaching us and she was repeating go straight, in a panic I snapped "I don't know which way Straight is!!". :-) Nevertheless we made it to the airport with luxurious minutes to spare..
