The final of the women's 1500 started off at a snails pace, 75 seconds for the first lap. The second lap was a little faster but still slow, 69 seconds.

Unfortunately Alptekin reportedly tested positive for a banned substance the next year. She still has her medal because the governing bodies never officially confirmed the results.
