Our last roadtrip was out to Þingvellir National Park. I feel like this photo could be used in an ad for our wagon. :-)

The National Parliament of Iceland, the Althing, was founded on the northern shores of this lake in 930 A.D. It is the oldest still existing parliamentary institution in the world.

The park is located in a Rift Valley.

This is where the North American and Eurasian continental plates meet, and are slowly pulling away from each at the pace of about two and a half centimeters per year.

It was a sunny day but the high winds and frigid temperatures kept us from spending too much time outside. Brrr!!!

We spent the remainder of our trip in Reykjavik at the Iceland Airwaves, a large international music festival.

This is Ham, a longstanding Icelandic Rock band.

The festival had 200+ bands playing over 4 days at 11 different venues in downtown Reykjavik.

This is the high energy electronica band FM Belfast, one of the more popular groups.

Ed and I would go to a venue early each night so we could be right up on the rail.

This is the Dirty Projectors, an experimental band from Brooklyn.
