Here is the ancient town of Shibam. It was built at the base of a cliff, and the buildings were built with rocks from the same cliffs. This made the city invisible to invaders until you came right up next to it.

In order to travel outside of Sana'a our guide had to tell the guards at the military checkpoint that we were Spanish. If he had known that we were Americans we wouldn't have been allowed out.
