The morning that we toured the monastery was a beautiful day.

A lot of the monastery was in disrepair as you can see from the woods growing out of the roof.

It is an active monastery, these monks in training were practicing their chanting as we peered in.

The restoration work is in progress, they had stacks of material outside to replace the aging tiles inside.

Since the soviets brought about the partial destruction of the monastery, many building have sat in disrepair.

After our tour we had to go back the way we had come, over two rivers and the swamp. The second time the Micra and I were pros so it wasn't as big a deal.
