From Seoul I took a train south to see my friend Marissa in Gyeoungsan, just below Daegu. She had just bought a car, so we road-tripped it up to Sokcho in the northeast to where she used to live. Along the way I spotted a Hyundai Terracan, which is the truck Ed and I co-leased in Qatar. Memories!!

Marissa and I went directly to the Unification Tower. I am standing in South Korea, directly behind me is the DMZ, and past that is North Korea. I think I may have gotten a glimpse of the Dear Leader..

Soraksan Nature Reserve is known as having the most beautiful mountain scenes in all of South Korea.

As we hike the path through this beautiful valley we come upon a giant Buddha.

A little further down the road there were some Buddhist temples with a stunning backdrop.

After a cable car ride and a quick but death defying hike we stood on top of the world. The city of Sokcho and the Pacific Ocean are behind me.
